An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper from the Marietta post
arrested a wanted felon from northeast Ohio after a traffic stop early this morning. And the evidence is pointing to crimes in three counties.
Post commander Lt. Mary Pfeifer says a trooper stopped a car
for a traffic violation on Interstate 77 at 12:48 a.m. and determined
that the driver, 45-year-old Brian Barrington of Wayne County, was wanted for
felonious assault in his home county.
Barrington is accused of assaulting his wife in Wooster, stabbing her several times last weekend. She remains hospitalized.
Lt. Pfeifer says it was determined that the vehicle had
been stolen from Massillon (in Stark County) and the plates were stolen from Holmes County. Other items
were found in the stolen car, which troopers believe may be connected to crimes
committed by Barrington.
Local troopers are working with Wayne County sheriff’s deputies and Wooster and Massillon police in an ongoing investigation.
