Some weather forecast models are indicating that 1 to 1.5 inches of rain may fall on the region's already-saturated ground over the next 48 hours.
That's why the National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a
Hazardous Weather Outlook for southeast Ohio and much of West
Virginia. Meteorologists say that, if the threat of heavy rain and significant flooding increases,
a Flood Watch may be required for the most vulnerable areas. Any small stream flooding could then be followed by river
issues.
In their morning forecast discussion, Charleston meteorologists state that rainfall amounts of less than 1.5 inches would lead to minor flooding in the usual locations, but if rain totals look to exceed 1.5 inches, a Flood Watch becomes likely and more significant problems become a possibility.
