Fatal Crash

The Marietta Post of Ohio Hiughway Patrol is currently investigating a crash on Interstate 77 involving three vehicles thaty took the lives of two people on board a motorcyle.
 
Sheriff Larry Mincks told WMOA News that a rental truck was attempting to perform a U-Turn on Inrerstate 77 through the median.
 
62 year-old Willie Paulsen noticed that the truck was attempting to make the U-Turn and then attempted to stop his truck which was hauling a trailer.
 
67 year-old John Long of Union, West Virginia was operating a motorcyle southbound on Interstate 77 and could not stop his bike in time, hit the trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the bike was identified as 66 year-old Kristi Long also of Union West Virginia. She was taken away from the scene and pronounced dead a few hours later as a result of her injuries.
 
The Ohio Department of Transporation, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Devola Volunteer Fire Department, Lower Salwn Volunteer Fire Department and Washington County Prosecutor were on scene to assist the Highway Patrol.
 
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash and both occupants of the motorcyle were wearing protectable helmets at the time of the crash.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
