It's been since 1918, that the last solar eclipse that spanned the nation and today was the day that the moon moved right between the sun and the earth.

Here in Marietta, 86% of the eclipse could be seen. WMOA News stopped by Washington State Community College for the viewing party.

The NASA feed, displayed the eclipse from different parts of the Unites States, from Oregon to Kentucky to South Carolina. Special viewing glasses were needed to view the eclipse and at WSCC. Dr. Bean Hirschy said that he ran out quickly.

Marietta College also hosted events to watch the solar eclipse. WMOA News spoke with President Bill Ruud and he told us about the day and the community attendence.

Associate Professor of Physics at Marietta College, Ann Bragg told us about the very sophisticated telescopre used on the campus of Marietta earlier today.

The next solar eclipse in the United States will be visible on Monday, April 8th 2024.
