Shoplifting Turned to Drug Bust in Marietta

The Marietta Police Department recently were dispatched to Hibbett Sports on Pike Street in reference to a shoplifting complaint.
 
Upon arrival, police located Chase Luther Wylie Simmons.  The police reportedly attempted to make contact with Simmons at which point he fled through the dollar general.  he was apprehended inside of the store a short time later.
 
Officers searched Simmons' person and discovered suspected Methamphetamine, Hydrocodone Pills along with Barbiturates and a capped syringe.
 
Simmons was then arrested and transported to the Wshington County Jail and charged with theft, 2 counts of felony possession and felony tampering with drugs.

MPD responded to a theft complaint and found more than stolen property.
