Ohio 555 motorcycle crash kills Belpre man

DECATUR TWP, Ohio (July 19, 2016) - The Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Sunday afternoon on State Route 555 in Washington County.
According to the police report, a 2002 Dodge Durango operated by Matthew S. Alfstad, age 48 of Cutler, was traveling northbound on State Route 555 in Decatur Township Sunday afternoon while Drew M. Ward-Nestor, age 22 of Belpre, was traveling southbound while operating a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle struck the Durango as Alfstad attempted to turn left onto Welch Road.
Alfstad was not injured, but Ward-Nestor died at the scene. Officers say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office, Washington County Coroner, and Little Hocking Fire and EMS were on scene to assist.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol – Marietta Post.
