(Marietta, OH) -- A strong to severe line of thunderstorms passed through the area mostly during the overnight hours – but it appears the damage was minimal in our immediate vicinity.

The storms moved through early this morning, and actually prompted a tornado warning to be issued by the National Weather Service in Charleston for parts of Washington and Morgan Counties just after 2 am.

The weather service says radar indicated rotation that could have been a possible tornado. However, according to recent storm reports given to the weather service office, none were reported.

The heavy rainfall also prompted several flash flood warnings to be issued across the region. One remains in effect for portions of Washington and Wood Counties until 1:15 this afternoon, and another for parts of Morgan and Perry Counties remain in effect until 1 pm.

There still are people who have lost power as a result of the overnight storms, but AEP says there are no outages in Washington County as of right now. Washington Electric Cooperative is reporting some scattered outages.

In Morgan County, AEP says more than 3,900 people do not have electric service, with a little over 300 without service in Athens County, and about 200 powerless in Meigs County. Mon Power says about 700 are without power in Wood County, and some scattered outages remain in Pleasants County.

If you are without service, you should call your electric utility.
