(Marietta, OH) - This last Friday the Marietta Police Department's Captain Jeff Waite retired. Captain Waite served for 33 years with the Marietta Police Department.

Waite says he's going to be working at the Gospel Mission Food Pantry for a couple months to help keep it going. In December he says he'll be taking a job with Marietta Municipal Court as Chief of Probation.

Captain Waite reminisced about some memories of his time with the MPD, saying years ago somebody put a pigeon in his police car and he never figured out who it was. He jokes around saying; if somebody wants to come forward he's sure the statute of limitations has run out.

Waite says the officers he worked with are his best memories of his time there.

With his retirement the Police Department will be looking for a new Captain. Waite says, temporarily Roy Kampmeier will be the acting Captain.

In November there will be a test, Detective Sgt. Greg Nohe, Sgt. Kampmeier, and Sgt. Len Ritchie are going to take it. From those three one will become the new Captain.

Captain Waite thanks the citizens of Marietta for the opportunity to serve them for the last 33 years.
