(MARIETTA, OH) - Boats are the same as cars in some regards--mainly when it comes to operating them and being under the influence of alcohol.

If you're caught behind the starboard drunk, you'll get a BUI--especially this weekend as local law enforcement agents will be heavily patrolling the Ohio River today through Sunday for Operation Dry Water.

Officials say the goal is to curb people from drinking while boating, and according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, your BAC must be lower than the .08 legal limit if you are operating a boat.

The ODNR says it nabbed three people for BUI during last year's operation, and officials will be patrolling the Muskingum River as the West Virginia DNR scours the Ohio River, looking for suspicious boaters.

Both departments remind boaters to avoid being under the influence of drugs while you're out on the water, as you can be ticketed if you're found in such a condition this weekend.
